Lessons:
-
The Heart is a Communication Center (a “mini-brain”) The heart is more than a muscle — it is an intelligent organ
-
The heart sends more signals to the brain than the brain sends to the heart. It signals the brain whether the body is safe or threatened, and the brain creates the emotional experience from that signal.
- You don’t heal by convincing the mind. You heal by stabilizing the signal the mind receives.
Step 1 — Re-Orient
Trauma keeps the brain predicting the past.
Slowly look around and name:
-
3 things you can see
-
2 things you can hear
-
1 thing you can physically feel
This updates the brain:
“I am here — not there.”
Step 2 — Heart Breathing
(hand on chest)
Breathe like this:
Inhale 5 seconds
Exhale 6 seconds
Slow, gentle, not deep.
Why it works:
This rhythm produces Heart coherence — a stable heart pattern the brain reads as safety.
Do for 2 minutes.
Step 3 — Add a Safe Signal
Remember a moment of relief (not happiness — relief is easier for the brain)
The brain does not distinguish well between vividly imagined safety and real safety.
You are pairing calm heart rhythm + safe experience = rewiring.
It’s best to listen while doing nothing and drop into your body. However, if you fall asleep and absolutely need to multi-task while listening, it’s okay.
